Tandem Friends School seeks a Part-time School Counselor to work with students and collaborate with faculty and administrators to address the social-emotional needs of our students, grades 5-12. The counselor will serve as a vital contact person and resource for students, teachers, and parents.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide short-term individual counseling in order to assess the nature of concerns and offer appropriate resources to students and families. Students who need regular counseling will be referred to an outside professional.
Participate in student support meetings to discuss individual students and to identify strategies to address their situations.
Provide support to classroom teachers and administrators regarding students facing social and emotional issues.
Collaborate with administrators and teachers on the development of school programming.

Applicants must maintain a professional certification in an accredited field (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, etc.); licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMHC) is desired. Previous experience working with adolescents is required; experience working in a school setting is expected. A background or interest in student health and wellness programming and instruction is ideal. The school counselor will work regular part-time hours every week (exact schedule to be determined in collaboration with whomever is hired).
