Overview Our innovative Physical Education program has a full-time opening for a Middle and Upper School Physical Education teacher to begin September 2019.
This position represents the opportunity to join a team dedicated to versatility in teaching practices as well as innovative program development. Candidates should be excited to work in a collaborative, cooperative environment, have the initiative towards visionary growth and the ability to implement a broad and diversified curriculum.
Teach skills in fitness, individual, dual, team sports and lifetime activities, Grades 5-12
Implement teaching strategies that address social and emotional competencies
Work with other members of the physical education faculty to plan instructional goals and objectives using a variety of methodologies
Design, plan and implement lessons based on Shape America National Standards
Evaluate student performance and communicate assessment through narrative written reports
Coach on the Middle and/or Varsity level at least one season
Serve as a Middle School or Upper School Advisor
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education required, Master’s preferred
3-5 years teaching experience
Knowledgeable of current trends in the field of Physical Education
Demonstrates pedagogical skill and an appreciation for the science and the craft of teaching
Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
