The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated person to join school faculty and staff for the 2019-20 school year to provide a comprehensive counseling program for the DRSS high school students; consult with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and provide support to the administration and teachers in other activities as assigned.
A Master’s degree in School Counseling by August 1, 2019. Licensed School Counselor in Ohio by August 1, 2019
3 or more years experience as a high school counselor. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with Naviance.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Academic – 25%
Conduct Individual meetings with students and parents
Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs
Participate in team meetings with teachers
Counseling – 25%
Conduct individual counseling with students/parents
Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members
Plan and lead small group counseling sessions
Scheduling – 15%
Assist with the annual scheduling process for high school students
College/Career Experience – 20%
Guide individuals and small groups of students through the development of educational and future career plans
Lead students in the the administration of career assessments and inventories via Naviance
Testing and Analysis – 10%
Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing
Disseminate testing results to the DRSS staff and help develop plans for improvement of test scores
Professional/Program Development – 5%
Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post-graduate courses
In conjunction with the counseling team and administration, plan and evaluate the DRSS school counseling program
Length of contract is one year contingent upon funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
