The Department of Public Health & Health Education at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2019.
Major Responsibilities Teach a 3/3 course load in undergraduate and graduate courses in community and school health education, that include, but are not limited to: Health Education Methods (undergraduate), Foundations of Health Education, Introduction to Public Health, Applied Biostatistics, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Research Methods in Health. Engage in scholarly activities, student advisement and mentoring, and serve on committees at the departmental, school and college levels.
Doctoral degree (ABD considered) by time of appointment from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university, in School, Community, or Public Health Education, or a related discipline (e.g. health psychology, health promotion, public health). Ability to conduct independent research. Ability to teach health content and methods courses. Demonstrated potential for increasing the diversity of the curriculum, student body or faculty through teaching/mentoring.
College teaching experience. Certified or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES or MCHES) or health education teacher certification. Previous teaching experience in both land-based and online courses. Familiarity with CEPH, NCHEC, SHAPE, CAEP & NYSED competencies/standards. Experience in administration/committee management. Experience in academic advisement. Evidence of grantsmanship.
Department Description The Department of Public Health and Health Education at the College at Brockport aspires to provide nationally recognized academic programs that prepare students for effecting positive changes in the health of the public and that contribute to the construction of A Healthier New York.
The Department prepares both undergraduate and graduate students to work in public health by providing education and utilizing high impact practices which build competencies outlined by national professional organizations and contribute to student success. The Public Health and Health Education faculty are committed to moving the field of public health forward by conducting and disseminating the findings of research, evaluation, and other creative endeavors and by contributing to advancement efforts driven by professional organizations.
