The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physical Education - Teacher Education at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2019.We particularly welcome applications from scholars from populations historically underrepresented in the academy and/or who have experience working in diverse populations.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Pedagogy. Maintain a line of research. Serve on department and college-wide committees. Attend and participate in department meetings, including faculty meetings and PETE major meetings. Represent the department at college-wide events such as Final Registration, Open House and Accepted Students Day. Advise approximately 40 students per semester.
Required Qualifications Earned doctoral degree in Pedagogy (Physical Education) or related field (e.g., Curriculum and Instruction) (ABD within 6 months of hire) from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university; earned bachelor's and/or master's degree in Physical Education - Teacher Education from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physical education pedagogy (e.g., elementary, secondary, curriculum, assessment); ability to teach a diverse student body; ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; and, ability to provide service to the department and college.
Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching physical education in the PreK-12 public/private schools; experience teaching at the college level; experience with the use of technology in teaching and research; record of scholarly publications; experience with accreditation; and, demonstrated ability to effectively engage faculty, staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.
Department Description The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses five majors: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education-Teacher Education and Sport Management. It is also home to a concentration in Adapted Physical Education, a minor in Coaching and a Graduate program. Graduate tracks include Adapted Physical Education, Athletic Administration, and Pedagogy. This is a highly productive department with a workforce committed to student success.
